2nd biggest ski area in New England Nestled in Maine’s Western Mountains, Sunday River has grown to become one of the best ski mountains in New England for its terrain and for its long tradition of dependable conditions. It comprises a long ridge (3 miles from east to west) boasting 8 interconnected peaks with exceptional views of the Mahoosuc Mountains and Mount Washington.
Sunday River is a fantastic choice for school groups
With 870 acres of terrain and some of the most extensive snowmaking in the East, beginners and intermediates have wide variety of long, wide pistes. The resort offers excellent progression for beginners, with an ideal starting point at the South Ridge Base Lodge, with wide and gentle slopes. Experts will enjoy the challenging narrow double black runs on White Cap and Barker Mountain. Sunday River has extremely helpful resort staff and accommodation conveniently situated close to the slopes. Children are particularly well catered for here on and off the slopes, with activities including skating and snow tubing. The picture-postcard town of Bethel is a 10-min drive away.
